Rontu. The sun hang high in the sky, a chilly wind tumbling over the rocky Colorado landscape without a care in the world. But Rontu could not feel it, a mile below the earth with a sunny disposition and a spring in his step. He loved the caverns, the very network of caves and systems his lifeblood ever since he'd been born. So traversing beyond the slick, artificial steps, he'd made himself welcome in the largest room. Stalactites stretched like fangs from the ceiling, which seemed acres away from his head. The football-stadium sized, natural room was clearly his favorite, as it'd become the favorite of the visitors who had often visited. The Shady Caverns was not a well known place, but he got by. Peering over, lips twitched in sync with his ears, calculating the drop to a mighty tall, twenty foot stalagmite which punched through the floor and stood tall. Placing his paws on the downward slope, Rontu skidded down the rock face and clambered onto the sheer pole of limestone. Dwarfed by the enormous formation, the fox anthro turned to the paper bag in his hands. He was on lunch break, and it'd be awhile before tourists inevitably came through here. Shaking himself, he rifled through his bag, rump eventually meeting the cold floor as he began to take small bites out of his food, admiring the surroundings he'd grown up with all his life.
Jince. Jince had, had a rough night at his job, the long hours at night would drive even a nocturnal animal like Jince mad. But hey, he was being payed to look at 2 or 3 TVs for a few hours and nothing ever happened anyways, so once it was time to leave he packed up and left, making sure to not even look in the direction of the guy or gal taking his place. It was still early in the morning and Jince would go home, but it's not like it would even matter, and it was times like these when Jince really had to relax so he headed off to the caverns, where he had spent countless hours, days, and heck maybe even years playing in there, all of course without paying that is. He snuck in which had been a trait of his for many years now, whether it was sneaking past bullies, or his father, it was always something that came in handy for him. He found a big room of those stalactites and stalagmites. He took off his jacket so that he could stretch his wings, and flew up to a Pallete formation hanging onto it upside down and quickly falling asleep.
Rontu bit into his sandwich, green eyes looking around the area boredly. Gaze latched onto every formation he'd grown to love over the years. One could get bored when you spent most of your life in the same caverns. He picked out rock formations to which he'd given names. There was a studded rock jutting out of the wall, the stone billowing downwards and out like a lady's dress. Turning over, he caught what looked like a toothpick of a stalagmite, a twisting mass of limestone descending from the ceiling towards it like the head of a dragon. Head trailed upwards now as he continued to chew his lunch, stopping short. The palette formation was one of his favorites. It looked like the palette of an artist, free-hanging and denying all explanation as pounds upon pounds of stalactites hung from it's surface. But wait.. what was that? There was a darker form lurking among it, that of.. a person? Rontu looked surprised. What if it was a tourist that someone had left behind!? Poor thing was probably scared from when they went among the routine of turning off the lights! He could damage the formation! It was barely holding on to a few inches of rock, and the oils on his skin could weaken the foundation, or worse, the stalactites it was named for! Voice called out tentatively, attempting to rouse the slumbering anthro. "Howdy..?"
