Gordon Freeman. Halloween. Hallow's Eve. The Hallow's Evening. Whatever you called it, it was the time for all the ghoulies and creepy crawlies to slither out from their wretched confines. That was how it seemed in the strange town of Shades Run, every corner and cranny inhabited by some red eyed beast ready to strike. It also was the time for Gordon to get groceries. The grizzled, mute man stalked throughout the grocery store, weaving in and out of aisles with a cart in tow. Much too many groceries for one man alone. It'd been, what, two months since the incident? Everyone from the City had sorted themselves into groups. Turquoise had taken the Merchant family under her wing, while Gordon had paid rent at a local's house. He was having 'friends' (read; Drinking buddies) over for the night's festivities. Something about blowing off the local bashes around the town. Either way, like always, he was stuck with doing the monotonous work even a monkey could do. With his lips sealed and his head down, eyes idly gazed upon the racks of food. Just another day.
Travis Skeltz had come to the grocery store to pick up strawberry fruit punch. His Uncle planned to to mix it with vodka and tomato juices and call it his vampire delights surprise. There probably was a name for such a drink but he doubted that was it. Still it's how his Uncle celebrated the festivities. That's when he caught site of a group of three people wearing hoodies and Halloween masks, two were brandishing semi-automatic handguns and another was carrying a baseball bat. Fortunately like always Travis was at the ready. Quickly he moved around to the back of the grocery store and quickly shed his out layers of clothing revealing his super hero jumpsuit which he always wore underneath his regular clothing. He would stuff his regular clothing into his backpack after retrieing his Ski-mask, sunglasses, gloves with the kevlar rienforced knuckles, and stun baton. Sadly he could not fit his homemade bullet proof vest into the backpack so he had to be extra-careful about this considering that two of the thugs were packing firepower. He knew this was more life threatening than anything he'd faced yet, but he could'nt sit there and do nothing. Ignoring his fear he strapped his regular black backpack on and moved around the front again and looked in through the window at the trio. The man with the bat was brandishing his weapon at the cashier while one of the two with the handguns was standing there for support. The third who also had a handgun had turned his attention to Gordon. "Hey Nerd guy! Hands behind your head and kiss the ground!"
:. Of course. Green eyes darted over to the cashier, the barrel of a gun pointed at him. It wasn't an unfamiliar feeling, but that didn't mean he exactly welcomed it.
To be continued at more leisurely date.
