whitewing1. She was exploring town, getting used to her human form more and more- although, how did they possible live without fur?! She pulled her crimson jacket tighter as she wandered around. Eventually, White arrived at a rather run-down looking place, and as she set her jade gaze on the stones sticking out of the group, a shiver ran down her back. The place called to her, and she could hear soft whispers, but there was no way in hell she would go there! Something tugged at the back of her mind- a memory. A graveyard. Somehow, she knew what this odd place was called, and that frightened her even more. She knew for a fact that she had never, ever seen something like this... Yet, she knew for a fact that she had never, ever seen something like this... Yet, she knew for a fact that she had indeed, once before..
Audrey Nitram. The worn-out looking man sauntered down along the side of the side of the road, spacing out with his eyes intently fixed upon his beaten skate shoes. Through his mind ran the memories of his little sister, but at the same time he thought of nothing. It seemed like just yesterday he was pushing her on the new swing that resided in the now-overgrown backyard of his childhood home. It was bright, bright red. A similiar red to the color of the ambulance that took her away, now that he thought of it. Or maybe, red like the color of the scrape and small trickle of blood on her cheek when he had last seen her. With a sigh escaping his lips, Audrey clutched the small caramel-colored teddy bear in his left hand tightly. Kicking the gravel on the ground as he walked, he glanced up momentarily to look down the street and wonder why it was taking so long to get to the cemetary. Audrey Nitram. A glance to his watch confirmed that it had only been five minutes, but to him it seemed as if it he had spent an eternity walking down this road that now seemed so depressing to him. Deep in his throat, a low, impatient growl rumbled. To dear Audrey, the street seemed to stretch on forever, although really, it only went on for two more blocks. As he walked, he reverted his attention back to his faded blue and black shoes. He picked apart the details in his mind, such as the fact that the front ends were coated in a thin layer of dirt and scuffed up, or the odd, almost grayish color that the blue had turned. When he finally reached the graveyard, he barely noticed the girl who was standing near the entrance, and instead completely ignored her and strolled straight in the direction of his dear little sister's headstone. Tears had already begun to well up in his eyes, but he swiftly wiped them away with the back of his hand.
whitewing1. A boy swept past her, and she felt the mixed emotions emanitating from him. Recognizing him, White steped forward, barely making a sound, despite all of the leaves on the ground. He seemed so distressed, and it bothered her. Humans were odd, that was for sure. Why did they make themselves sad? It was not an emotion that White had ever experienced before, so she did not see the need or cause for it. "...Audrey?" She would call out tentatively, her voice ringing out, soft and sweet, in the cold and silent air. She took a few more steps yet keeping her distance and let a worried look fall apon her face. He was crying; White could see the shimmer of tears on the back of his hand when he lowered it from his face. "Are... You okay?"
Audrey Nitram. With a gentle tug to the collar of his pilot jacket, the tan faux fur collar popped up slightly to warm his rosy reddish-pink cheeks, which were slightly moist with the few salty tears that he shed. Honestly, Audrey hadn't considered the fact that it was going to be so chilly outside today. He hadn't noticed the cold until now, nor had he noticed the soft voice saying his name. By the time he heard her question, the male was standing near the gravestone that he had come to see. Overgrown foliage had snaked up and worked it's way around the sides and top of the marble tombstone, and the letters on the front were starting to fade. With a soft, startled gasp, he spun around to face White. After realizing it was just her, Audrey nodded and turned back to the headstone. His chest and throat felt tight as he raised a hand to brush over his face once more. "Yeah.. Yeah, I'm okay." Running his hand along the top of the tombstone, he swept the plant life off of it gently. {c}
Audrey Nitram kneeled down in front of the grave, propping the teddy bear up along the marble stone. "My sister died. Little sister. She had just run out into the street to cross it on the way to school. Fuckin' drunk driver. Didn't even have the fucking decency to stop and call an ambulance." With a sigh, he ran one hand through his hair and traced the letters on the headstone with his other. "But.. but maybe if I hadn't stayed behind to walk with my friends, I could've stopped her. And she would still be alive now." In an attempt to push the emotions back, he shrugged, furrowed his brow and cleared his throat again, trying not to break into full-out sobbing. With a glance around the cemetary, he noticed that it had started to become overgrown with weeds and plant life, and that some of the gravestones were starting to crumble. It looked like no one had tried to clean it up in a while. {d}
whitewing1. Oh, the emotions that were coming from him! It hurt her inside to feel such pain from someone she admired so greatly. Holding one hand behind her back, she summoned a bouquet of yellow and blue roses and daisies and then handed it to Audrey. "Yellow is for regret and blue for sorrow, some say," was all she murmured before placing a hand on his shoulder and looking up at him, her eyelashes covering her eyes just so and her hair blowing in the wind. "I'm sorry." Noticing he was looking about the graveyard, she lowered her head and sighed. She could clean it up for him, of course. But it was too much of a job just for her- being only 5'2" and barely having any muscle, it'd take her days to clear up all of the weeds and fix the tombstones.. Without magic. With magic, it'd take her fifteen seconds at most.
Audrey Nitram stared at the headstone silently for a couple seconds, thoughts of his sister running through his head. He wondered what she would be like now, if she was still alive. With a quiet sniffle, Audrey smiled gratefully at the shorter girl as she gave him the bouquet. "Thank ya, hun." Wrapping his arm around her and gently squeezing her shoulder in an awkward momentary side-hug, he placed the bouquet on the top of the gravestone and rested on a large stone that sat in a pile of smaller rocks, stretching one of his legs out. He itched at the nape of his neck and widened his lips into what he hoped look like a warm smile. "Maybe... maybe I could try to clean this place up a bit..? I mean, I know it would probably take a couple days, but maybe I could put a bench somewhere, and maybe some flowers?"
whitewing1. She jumped slightly and gasped, a blush coming to her face when Audrey hugged her. Trying hard to calm her racing heart, she took a deep breath and answered his question. "T-t-that's a great idea, Audrey. W-we could put flowers near the front, and polsih up those statues... And I could rebuild the tombstones, and fix the fences and-" She stopped and realised how stupid she must've sounded as she got excited. What? White enjoyed fixing things, to a point of an OCD quirk.
Audrey Nitram tilted his head to the side slightly and blinked up at her, somehow not noticing the way she stuttered. With a grin and a nod, the 20-year-old pointed in the direction of the tomb and said, "Mayhaps we could put a stone bench over there, in front of the tomb. And maybe some in other places. It'd be nice to have places to sit. We'd also have to clean up all these weeds, and trim the bushes 'n' stuff." In the excitement of the idea, he almost forgot about the reason he came here. Almost. I'm sure this is what she would want me to do. ".. My little sister really liked bright blue. Not the light, sky blue. But, kind of a dark blue." Starting to fumble with the hem of the purple shirt that he wore under his jacket, he mumbled, "I think blue is a very pretty color.."
whitewing1. She brushed back her hair from her face and kept one hand down by her side, just by her pockets. "Blue is a very nice colour. Your sister had good taste." Pausing, she looked up at him and smiled softly. "What was your sister's name?"
Audrey Nitram rose to a stand, then stepped slowly back over to his sister's gravestone, running his hand along the rough stone when he neared it. "Kayla[might change this]." he answered simply. Inhaling the cold air and glancing up at the sky, he noticed the sky had turned a lovely mixture of colors - purple, pink, orange, and a hint of yellow. The sun was starting to set. The young man turned toward White. "Hey Whitney? Thank you. You.. cheered me up. I had woken up feeling really depressed and crappy this morning. I'd love to stay here and talk longer, but it's kinda starting to get late." And with that, he bid her farewell and started on his way home.
